Thursday Thirteen #25

Thirteen Things about Mana: The Life Force

1. Mana is the devine power.
2. And Hawaiians have a keen awareness of this supernatural force running through all things.
3. For it is their natural consciousness to be psychic.
4. And they read signs and omens into elemental phenomena.
5. For them there is nothing that isn’t alive.
6. For everything has mana in some form ………… rocks and plants, mountains, winds and sea.
7. And water in all its form is the symbol for this mystical power called mana ……… water in all it’s changing moods:
8. Wailele: the waterfall ………
9. Ua: the rain ………
10. Uhiwai: the mist ………
11. Kahawai: the gentle stream ………
12. And moana: the mighty ocean.
13. Maka mua: the beginning ………
For they knew the origin of life ……… And they saw that the universe began in motion during Po: the cosmic night of creation ……… And a movement of the sky (lani) began against the earth (honua) and the earth heated like a womb ……… And the night and day became the cosmic parents of earth ………

Wow - that is very interesting. Thank you so much for sharing. Do you have the same beliefs? Just wondering.

nice one Ma and it reminds me of all of bad luck stories from tourists who take home "souvenir" lava rocks they picked up off the ground while visiting the islands -- many of them mail the rocks back.

I was just browsing and found your site... I love your descriptions for mana... so much deeper than 'power' (which is what most people define mana as.)
